The
Litigation Department of Courter, Kobert & Cohen includes both seasoned trial
attorneys and young, aggressive litigators, all with an equally strong commitment
to excellence in the courtroom as well as at the negotiating table. Our multi-disciplinary
litigation specialists are well versed in handling a myriad of issues in the state
and federal courts of New Jersey, as well as New Jersey administrative, tax and municipal
courts. Business leaders demanding an aggressive litigation stance with cutting-edge
strategic plans have continuously relied on our team of litigators to respond rapidly
and effectively to any challenging litigation situation.
Our litigation attorneys have experience handling various issues
for large and mid-size corporations as well as small business owners and individuals.
Some of the practice areas our attorneys specialize in are commercial matters, corporate
and shareholder disputes, contractual claims and business torts. Our Litigation Group
has also represented clients in matters involving intellectual property rights, trade
secrets, real estate and zoning issues, personal injury and malpractice claims.
Additionally, the attorneys in our innovative Labor and Employment
Law Section have extensive experience handling matters on behalf of both public and
private sector clients. Our attorneys handle labor litigation and labor matters pending
in Federal and State Courts, in arbitration proceedings and in proceedings in front
of various labor relations boards. The Labor and Employment Law Section not only offers
litigation services, but provides expertise to our clients on matters such as developing
positive employee relations, policies and practices, as well as collective bargaining
negotiations and grievance resolution.
Since our approach to litigation considers and focuses upon our client's
business and personal goals, certain situations may call for a swifter, more economical
resolution to a particular dispute. Accordingly, our attorneys may recommend the resolution
of a dispute through a form of mandatory or optional Alternative Dispute Resolution
(ADR), such as arbitration or mediation. In 2003, Courter, Kobert & Cohen proudly
welcomed a well respected and retired member of the judiciary to direct the firm's
ADR practice. His years of service on the Superior Court and over three decades of
practical experience allows for the exploration of new and innovative methods to economically
and expeditiously resolve disputes for our clients. The firm also provides its ADR
services to litigators of other law firms for an efficient resolution to their client's
disputes.
Whether in pre-filing discussions, in court,
at the negotiating table or exploring a form of ADR, Courter,
Kobert & Cohen's Litigation and ADR attorneys effectively
pool their resources to competently advise our clients and
effectively advance their interests.
