The
Insurance Practice Group of the litigation department at Courter, Kobert & Cohen
provides legal advice and services to its insurance industry clients over a broad
range of issues. Our services include litigation at the trial and appellate court
levels, arbitration proceedings, and counseling clients regarding a variety of coverage
issues.
Our Insurance Practice Group represents insurance company clients
in the defense of wide ranging litigated coverage disputes as well as evaluating coverage
issues prior to the start of litigation. Our insurance attorneys have experience in
reviewing issues arising under virtually every type of insurance policy involving
a variety of claims. We also assist clients in the drafting and review of specific
coverage language and provisions.
The Insurance Practice Group also defends claims alleging the bad
faith failure to settle liability claims within policy limits as well as bad faith
and/or unfair claim practices lawsuits arising from an insurance company's denial
of coverage or benefits under an insurance policy. We are also experienced in handling
bad faith disputes between excess and primary insurance carriers arising from the
handling and resolution of claims.
Courter, Kobert & Cohen's Insurance Practice Group is strategically
equipped to handle any type of dispute involving insurance brokers, agents and other
intermediaries. Our attorneys have litigated insurance intermediary disputes including
the failure to remit premiums, the binding of coverage outside of designated authority
and other complex issues involving brokers and agents.
We also have an active practice representing policyholders in a wide
variety of complex commercial and general civil litigation. Our practice includes
the defense of all types of complex commercial litigation, including warranty, contract,
errors and omissions and computer software lawsuits, as well as personal injury litigation.
